It was during our hikes in Canada that we learned the ancient formula of food, based on which we later created our own modern pet food in our Czech family firm. We named it Ontario. Not just out of respect for our Canadian inspiration, but also because the name reflects the power of a dog sled, the smell of mountain flowers, and the feeling of a fresh breeze in your face.

As a family business, we are very aware of family values. The closer someone is to you, the more you want them to be with you for as long as possible. We see pets as members of the family pack. That is why we are constantly improving the recipes, looking for better quality ingredients, cooperating with veterinarians and nutritionists. Love is our strongest motivation together with the wish to enjoy the company of our partners in crime for as much time as we can. We want to ensure all families with pets can count shared experiences in good health to the fullest extent. Times are changing, but the demands of contemporary society somehow remind us of the wild Canadian nature which we experienced firsthand. For twenty years, we have been working to make Ontario kibbles the best choice for the healthy and long life of your pets.

ONTARIO HISTORY

2004
We launch Ontario's first dog food - the beginning of our journey to healthier pet nutrition.

2007
We expand our range to include cat food and the first wet dog food.

2010
We improve dog formulas, adding prebiotics, superfoods and replacing grains with potatoes. We introduce the first Ontario treats.

2012
We improve cat formulas - with a focus on palatability and the natural needs of our little beasts.

2016-2017
A new generation of dog formulas arrives - even better quality and more digestible.

2018
We adjust cat formulas to better meet their nutritional needs.

2025
We introduce a new generation of Ontario dog food - with over 20 years of experience in every bite.

The Ontario brand was born out of our love for animals and the inspiration we brought from the rugged but beautiful Canadian outdoors. It was there that we first felt the power of connecting with nature and understood how essential quality nutrition is to a healthy life. That’s why, in 2004, we launched the first Ontario dog food recipe in our Czech family business. Three years later, we expanded our range to include cat food and wet dog food. Even then, we knew we wanted to give pets the best – and that it would be a long journey of development, innovation and collaboration with experts.
Our formulas have been constantly evolving since the beginning. In 2008, the first big innovation came, and in 2010 we replaced cereals with potatoes and added treats to our dog recipes. Every year since then, we’ve pushed the quality further – either by adapting the recipes or by finding even better ingredients. New generations of dog (2016-2017) and cat (2018) recipes have brought significant improvements in nutritional value and palatability. And in 2025, Ontario is coming up with the next chapter – a new generation of dog food that builds on 20 years of experience to offer even better care for the everyday vitality of your four-legged partners.
