Yes – only better.
We’ve kept everything that customers and their dogs love about Ontario:
✔️ Balanced formula defined with leading nutritionists and animal health experts
✔️ Natural preservatives and colours, free from unnecessary chemicals
✔️ Focus on health, taste, and functionality

And we’ve added the best of modern nutrition:
🔹 More meat and fresh ingredients
🔹 New recipes for sensitive and senior dogs
🔹 Functional ingredients for joints, coat, immunity, and digestion

The new Ontario is a natural evolution of a brand that keeps up with the latest findings in dog nutrition – while staying true to its core values: quality, trust, and health.

Even if your dog has healthy digestion with no prior issues, we recommend transitioning to the new Ontario gradually over 10 days. Even a small change in composition can cause temporary digestive discomfort if done suddenly – a slow transition is gentler on your dog’s digestion and overall wellbeing.

Transition plan:

  • Days 1–3: 25% new + 75% old food
  • Days 4–6: 50% new + 50% old food
  • Days 7–9: 75% new + 25% old food
  • From Day 10: 100% new food

Ontario’s new generation foods have high digestibility, so most dogs handle the change well – but preparation always pays off.

If your dog has a more sensitive digestive system or a history of issues, we recommend a careful and slow transition – ideally over at least 15 days.

Step-by-step:

  • Start with about 20–25% new food, the rest old food
  • Every 3–4 days increase the new food by 20–25%, depending on your dog’s response
  • Monitor stool, appetite, and overall condition
  • If digestive issues arise, slow down or consult your vet

For sensitive dogs, we recommend Ontario’s monoprotein recipes (turkey or tuna), which include only one animal protein source and are easier to digest.

Compared to the previous formula, we’ve increased the meat content by one third, meaning more high-quality animal protein in every serving.

Each recipe includes:
✔️ 26% fresh meat – ensures better taste, smell, and digestibility
✔️ Up to 26% dehydrated animal protein – a concentrated protein source for muscles and vitality

Altogether, meat makes up to 52% of the content – one of the highest in its category.

Ontario VitalAge Blend™ is a unique mix of herbs and grapefruit extract developed to support long-term dog health.

It contains natural antioxidants that:
🌿 Protect cells from oxidative stress
🌿 Support strong immunity
🌿 Help slow down ageing processes

This complex promotes overall fitness and vitality at every stage of life.

Good digestion is the foundation of overall health.
Prebiotics and postbiotics in the new Ontario help:
✔️ Maintain a healthy and balanced gut microbiome
✔️ Support proper digestion and nutrient absorption
✔️ Strengthen the dog’s natural defences

The result is better wellbeing, firmer stools, and a healthier digestive system.

Postbiotics are beneficial bioactive compounds produced by friendly bacteria – those that naturally inhabit a healthy gut.

In the new Ontario dog food, postbiotics are added to support digestion and immunity:
Help maintain gut microbiome balance
Support proper nutrient absorption
Strengthen the body’s natural defences
May soothe digestive issues

Advantage over probiotics: Unlike live probiotics, postbiotics are not sensitive to high temperatures during the dry food production process – ensuring they remain effective in your dog’s bowl.

This makes them a smart solution for long-term digestive health – without compromise.

Healthy skin and a shiny coat are signs of internal wellbeing.
Ontario’s new generation includes:
🐟 Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids – for moisturised skin and reduced inflammation
🐟 Salmon oil – a nourishing fat for a beautiful coat
🔹 Zinc and vitamin E – for skin cell regeneration and protection

Thanks to this composition, the food is also ideal for dogs with dry skin, dandruff, or hair loss issues.

Yes. All new recipes contain chondroitin and glucosamine – two essential substances for:
✔️ Nourishing and protecting joint cartilage
✔️ Slowing joint wear and tear
✔️ Improving mobility and flexibility

Perfect for senior dogs, active breeds, or as a preventive measure at any age.

No. The new generation of Ontario is entirely free of artificial preservatives, colourants, and soy.
We only use natural antioxidants:
🌿 Tocopherols (a form of vitamin E)
🌿 Rosemary extract

This makes the formula safe and suitable even for long-term feeding.

No, the current change only concerns dog food.
Ontario cat food recipes already meet modern nutritional standards, are rich in meat, and tailored to cats’ needs across all life stages and conditions. So no change is needed at this time – the recipes remain as your cats know and love.

Yes, but subtly – it’s more of an evolution than a revolution.
You’ll notice a more modern design and clearer layout, while still recognising familiar elements, such as the same dog breed on the pack.

A new feature is the Ontario brand story on the back, explaining why we make dog food with such care.

Look for the updated packaging with a distinctive design.

If your dog doesn’t immediately accept the new food or shows digestive issues, don’t worry – a slower transition often helps.
➡️ Start with 25% new food mixed with the current one and gradually increase over 10–15 days.
➡️ For more sensitive dogs, consider monoprotein recipes (e.g. turkey or tuna).

The new Ontario recipes have improved palatability due to fresh meat, but some dogs may need time to adjust.
Still unsure which recipe is right? Contact our trained staff or customer support – we’ll help you find the perfect match for your dog.

No, they do not contain wheat or corn – all recipes are gluten-free.
Some variants use brown rice as a side – these are known as low grain recipes:
✔️ Brown rice is naturally gluten-free, easy to digest, and nutritious
✔️ It provides energy and supports digestive stability

Other recipes are grain-free – using sweet potatoes as the side.

Ontario currently does not offer veterinary (special diet) foods.
However, for dogs with sensitive digestion or food allergies, we recommend:
Monoprotein recipes – include only one animal protein source (turkey or tuna)
Weight Control recipes – for overweight dogs or those prone to gaining weight

➡️ Always consult your vet in case of specific health concerns.

Every dog is unique – and while the new recipes are more flavourful thanks to fresh meat, some dogs may need time to adapt.
The key is a patient, gradual transition – over 10–15 days, slowly mixing in the new food.
If your dog still refuses it, try a different flavour or variant (e.g. monoprotein).
